Logitech diNovo Keyboard Won’t Pair
Twice in the last month my diNovo keyboard has “unpaired” from the Mac Pro for no apparent reason. I submitted a ticket to Logitech after my own computer guy was stumped … not even a response from Logitech! That’s encouraging huh? Anyway, what I discovered was wrong will make some people laugh and shake their head. I’m going to write it anyway just in case it actually helps somebody!
Has your Logitech diNovo Keyboard suddenly become “unpaired” from your computer? If so…do you have another bluetooth computer turned on close by? It would seem logical to me that the other computer would probably have been used as a playground for the bluetooth device at some point in the past. Both my Mac Pro and Macbook Pro have been paired with my Logitech diNovo Keyboard before. I believe having them both on at the same time was the problem.
The first time it happened I didn’t know why the keyboard just suddenly quit working and wouldn’t pair. I was working in my office on the Mac Pro and my son turned on the laptop in my bedroom. I spent hours trying to make it re-connect to the Mac Pro and never made the connection that it was fine as soon as the Macbook Pro was turned off.
The second time I had the Macbook Pro sitting in the office as an additional screen and could actually see it grab the diNovo keyboard away from the Mac Pro. The two do not like to share their toys!
So there you have it. Maybe you’ve done the same thing and this helps you…if not have a good laugh at my expense.
Photoshop CS4 Moved the Slice Tool
Man I thought I was going crazy! Looking up and down that tool panel and thinking I must surely be too tired or something because I can’t find the slice tool. Yes, I DID just jump right into using it without reviewing what was new LOL. It’s awful I know but dang! I’ve got work to do! LOL
As soon as I can get a spare second I’ll figure out everything that is new … in the mean time….if you are like me and don’t read instructions or whatever and you’re missing the slice tool…here is where they moved it!
OK, back to work!
Dreamweaver CS4 after FireFox 3 update won’t preview
I upgraded my FireFox browser to 3.0.11 and then after that I couldn’t preview in DreamweaverCS4 without getting this annoying error:

“There is already another version of this browser running. Please close the other browser before previewing”
How to change Wacom Intuos 4 Pen nib
Silly as it might seem this might actually help somebody that doesn’t realize how to do this…or for people like me that don’t read directions that come with their products
Fireworks CS4
I spent the entire weekend learning a new program. Actually, it’s not a new program at all…it’s one that I’ve had on my computer for YEARS but never took the time to properly introduce myself to
I really like this program and I’m going to make a real effort to work with it. I still love Photoshop of course but Fireworks is really meant for web design so it doesn’t make much sense to not use it
Thanks Jim Baggage…that was a great series you put together and I enjoyed learning FireWorks with you!
CS4′s Application Frame
When I left Windows for Mac there was just one thing that really frustrated me. There were a few things that I didn’t get like why the maximize, minimize, close dots were on the left hand side of the window instead of the right. It took me about a week to get use to the “menu bar that rules them all” but the thing that bothered me and that I wished I didn’t have to leave behind was how the interface of my web apps behaved. Anybody who has ever been on both computers knows that on a Mac you have panels that are “floating” in programs like Dreamweaver and Photoshop. With them floating this way you can see past and behind them to whatever is on the desktop. I found this extremely distracting as I was use to the program’s interface being all one piece. The longer I used Mac the less it bothered me and I did get use to it but I always longed for the way the Windows version handled it. Not enough to leave Mac of course but just secretly wished that panels didn’t float and allow me to look through them.
Adobe’s CS4 version of these softwares pulls it all together on the Mac very similar to the way I loved it on Windows and I really really love that. They call it an “application frame”. Thank you Adobe!
The Grande Fat Free Sugar Free Carmel Macchiato Lie

For those of you (like me) who THINK that you are really getting a sugar free product…think again…not if they put the “carmel drizzle” into the mix which of course is what makes it a “Carmel” Macchiato! Thank goodness this is just an every other month or so extravaganza for me! The “Non Fat Yogurt” episode of Seinfeld (Season 5, Episode 7) comes to mind! Remember, that episode? Hilarious…Kramer invests in the Non Fat Yogurt store that Jerry and Elaine go crazy eating because it’s no fat right? They start gaining weight and it turns out the yogurt really isn’t? It’s ONLY FUNNY if it’s happening to Jerry & Elaine LOL
The “Fat Free Sugar Free Carmel Macchiato” actually has 12 grams of sugar in it because of the drizzle. Hmmm that isn’t “sugar free” at all then is it? I got this from the Starbucks lady today! How many Starbucks people never told me this? I was at the Kroger shopping and I spied the Starbucks and thought to myself “you don’t do this often and it will make your miserable shopping trip more enjoyable”. I actually had a 5 spot on me and so I step up to the counter and feeling pretty guiltless I announce to the lady that I wish to have a “Grande Fat Free Sugar Free Carmel Macchiato”. She looks at me as if I’m really bothering her (which annoys me slightly)and asks me “do you want the drizzle?” Drizzle? What is “the drizzle”? I don’t make Carmel Macchiato’s for a living so I don’t know what goes in the cup? I just know I love it and it tastes good! Shoot they always give it too me with a lid on it…I wasn’t even aware there was a “drizzle” LOL. I could probably guess that carmel is in it somewhere but to my thinking it must be “sugar free” whatever it is. To my question she says “Ya, the CARMEL drizzle (like I’m an idiot) …do you want it?” Now of course I think this is a pretty stupid question UNLESS… I looked at her and a little skeptically ask… “is it sugar free?” Again with “the look”, she answers me…NO! OMG what if I was a diabetic? OK now I usually try to be nice to people and it’s becoming increasingly hard to not give her the rolling eyes conversation and show her just how sarcastic and bitchy I can also be but instead I politely decline “the drizzle”. That’s when she point blank tells me in the future then what I want to order is a “Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte”. So…if you think (like me) that a Grande Fat Free Sugar Free Carmel Macchiato is actually a sugar free product…think again! Not only is it NOT…it doesn’t even exist!
Comcast changes Pop 3 mail settings…
AND they don’t even tell you!
IF you have recently been one of the people that Comcast switched to their new “Smart Zone” email and your mail stopped being able to be downloaded into your Outlook Express or whatever mail program you normally use BUT YET it IS online in your Comcast Smart Zone email folder (and you get NO error messages!) …I think I can save you phone bashing time with Comcast technical support!
Comcast went and changed it’s Pop3 settings from mail.comcast.net to sz-pop.mail.comcast.net and worse…didn’t tell YOU OR their own technical support about it! (at least the one that I spent all that time on the phone with anyway).
- What you need to do is open your Outlook Express (sorry if you are not in Outlook Express) and go to Tools on the menubar.
- Click Accounts.
- Click the Mail tab and then choose your mailbox by highlighting it.
- Click Properties on the right hand side.
- Click the Servers tab and change your Incoming Mail Pop3 from mail.comcast.net to sz-pop.mail.comcast.net.
- Bingo! That should do it! If not sorry …. guess you are going to have to call them afterall
Note: If you’ve not been changed to the new Smart Zone Comcast mail yet then your Pop3 should still be mail.comcast.net.
